Acid Trip In Jaco Beach

Day 2: Jaco

My first morning in Jaco was Pura Vida. Woke up to roosters and the sun streaming in from the balcony. We went down the strip to the Sea House Coffee Specialists and I had the best almond milk ice coffee of life. Yes, the coffee is so good here and I have to bring some home.

We took a stroll down to the beach and Kaya, Kim’s dog, was loving life and running around like crazy. It started to rain and I actually felt a bit chilly like I needed a light sweater. The locals love the rain though, everyone was like, oh this weather! Funny, because in Canada when it rains everyone just complains.

Later we met up with Kim’s Jamaican friend Jessica, she lives in a hotel in Jaco. That girl knows how to roll a joint. At last I get high and am able to do some blogging with free wifi. Then we hit the pool and the sun peaks out for us, at last.

After a nice swim we went for pizza at Rioasis and the drink special was two for one mojitos, Kim and I were so down for that. it overlooked a small canal and we sat on the patio, soaking up the sun and the rum for a late lunch.

Hit the grocery store, MasXMinus and got some road snacks, some beer and some veg, like a big pack of beautiful zucchini florets, my favourite.

We crashed out for a bit before Kim’s friend Arnaldo arrived from Panama. He has a car, which is like freedom here.

Arnaldo finally showed up and brought some “special” sweet treats. I ate a quarter of a sweet tart and it was my first time trying acid. Mind you, I didn’t do too much, just enough I guess. I didn’t hallucinate, just felt really energetic.

We try to hit this craft bar but it’s closed because apparently a lot of things are closed Wednesday. Hump day maybe?

We end up at The Green Room again and Jessica shows up. I start feeling the acid hitting me hard so I go to the bar to get a water and end up chatting up a Tico. I’m like oh have a good night and then we both go to the same table. I’m like oh, you’re with Jessica, haha.

I’m pretty sure everyone is getting laid here except me.

We head over to Swell Bar, which is like the “happening bar in town, it’s always busy. I switch to rum and cokes at this point because they don’t have anything “fancy.” I spot some foosball tables and get totally jazzed. I run over to the corner and literally trip on like a HUGE pile of glass. Lady luck must have been on my side because I managed to land flat footed on it and not cut myself. Phew. I was like, am I acid trippin’ and cut my foot or am I actually okay?

So after that we’re like let’s GTFO of Swell, and that was it. I love when you actually say, let’s do this and then people just go. It’s awesome.
